Welcare inaugurates its new manufacturing facility in Orvieto

The project, launched in August 2023 and completed within two years, required an investment of €4.5 million and is part of the 2024–2028 five-year industrial plan. The aim: to strengthen Welcare’s position as a centre of excellence in the treatment of complex skin conditions and in the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, focusing on innovation, sustainability and international expansion.
The new site expands and enhances the existing headquarters, adding:
• 600 m² of ISO-certified cleanrooms for production in controlled contamination environments
• 500 m² dedicated to packaging
• 800 m² converted into logistics space
• 660 m² of refurbished offices
From a technological standpoint, the facility integrates new automated lines for pre-impregnated wipes and gloves, along with a second autoclave for steam sterilisation, doubling treatment capacity. Altogether, these upgrades are expected to increase production capacity by 50%, optimising internal workflows and ensuring greater flexibility.
The investment also strengthens Welcare’s sustainability profile: the new photovoltaic system will cover, on average, 60% of energy needs during the spring and summer months, while water recovery and reuse systems will reduce environmental impact. The expansion will also lead to around a 20% increase in employment within two years, with new hires in production, technical and managerial roles, reaffirming the company’s bond with the Umbrian region.
As underlined by Fulvia Lazzarotto, CEO of Welcare, the new facility marks a crucial milestone in industrial growth and competitiveness on international markets. A vision shared by Walter Bertin, founder and CEO of Labomar, who emphasised that innovation, sustainability and integration between the Group’s companies are concrete drivers of growth and the creation of shared value.
